A huge shout out to Motueka Menz Shed for 60 sparkling new little penguin nest boxes built for deployment along the Tasman coastline.  They have been installed in small clusters to provide safer habitat for little penguins against mammalian threats such as uncontrolled dogs, cats, rats, stoats and hedgehogs.  Having several grouped together allows the penguins to socialise during their time ashore.

A new, longer tunnel design has been adopted to help deter predators including weka who are known to invade the previous short tunnel version. Established nest boxes with the short tunnel entrance are being converted to long tunnels as they become available.

Thank you Motueka Menz Shed for your amazing support and very valuable contribution to little penguin/korora conservation in Tasman Bay.  You are true legends!
